Playtonic Denies That It's Making a New Banjo Kazooie

With developer Playtonic consisting of several staff members that worked on the original Banjo-Kazooie games, and their own Yooka-Laylee bearing more than a resemblance to the N64 platformers, it's not surprising that rumours of the studio working on a new Banjo game would get people excited.

The statement was issued on Playtonic's Twitter account after rumors began the surface that the company was purchased by Microsoft.

Yooka-Laylee, Yooka-Laylee & The Not capacity Lair, and within the foreseeable future that game #3, #4 and the #5 one too which is the one I continuously thought may per chance per chance be game #1.

While it's not the news Banjo fans are hoping for, it does sound like Playtonic are gearing up to work on something new, which sounds good to us.

"Hey everyone! We wanted to address the speculation now swarming our mentions".

So there you have it. Playtonic is still an independent studio and isn't making a new Banjo-Kazooie.

They also say that "the ball isn't in our court" and that they'd love to work with the duo again. However, judging by the company's above statement, Playtonic won't be involved if this day does arrive.

Yesterday, we reported about Playtonic Games rumored to be working on a new Banjo-Kazooie game and in the middle of an acquisition process from Xbox Game Studios, which was something Xbox fans were looking forward to happening at X019. They referenced the rumours, saying "we found it amusing that Ed Bryan's bag is being used as serious "evidence", but we reckon it wouldn't be fair if we didn't set the record straight".
