Overwatch 2 game director says leaks are "demoralising" to the team

However, the new game allows players of the original to carry forward existing Overwatch players' accomplishments and loot collections and enjoy original game heroes, maps, and modes - in a game engine that has been significantly upgraded.

Overwatch 2 is still now in an early development stage, so, unfortunately, there is no firm release date as of yet.

What should have been a celebration for fans of these franchises has led to a moral dilemma: Will support continue to dwindle for Blizzard and their games or will armchair activism eventually lead to people booting up their Battle.net clients again? I have no idea.

We didn't get a release date for Diablo 4 at BlizzCon, which itself suggests that it's more than a year out from release. Competition is fierce, with games like Fortnite, Apex Legends, League of Legends, Dota 2, and so forth all drawing eyeballs, but Overwatch remains hugely popular with a large fan base. Overwatch 2 had leaked the week prior, deflating what was meant to be a surprise reveal to close out the opening ceremony of Blizzard's yearly show. That's where Overwatch 2's newfeatures come in. These changes are especially noticeable if you look at each character's hair in the before-and-after section of Overwatch 2's website.

Lafleur noted that the team got lucky with the first Overwatch - while news of a trademark got out prior to Blizzcon, the news was largely kept under wraps.

We're sure Blizzard will have to address this omission in the future sometime, but the decision might have to do with the fact Diablo 4 appears to be more graphically intense than its predecessor was. All of the original heroes are present and accounted for, and players can expect to see the same maps and modes.
