Neil Jones makes a Strictly Come Dancing comeback

Finishing with a score of 30 points out of 40 - which was a disappointment after topping the leaderboard last week - Karim tearfully told Claudia that he was "gutted" to have messed up the dance.

Former footballer Scott said she was thrilled to get back on the dancefloor with her "normal partner", but was grateful for Clifton's help.

Some had been angry that he survived previous dance-offs while Catherine Tyldesley, Emma Weymouth were booted out.

On Thursday, Jones was not yet sure whether he would be able to dance this weekend.

The star dismissed any suggestion he had dance experience before Strictly, saying: "I was a singer in musical theatre, The Lion King, when I was about eight!" My dad's going to take up ballroom dancing and my mum has started Zumba - I want to thank all my family and the judges. I have all the comments framed around the house.

"She hasn't taken it easy on me, we've had some hard routines and I can't believe the miracles you've performed". "I didn't think I'd get this far so I have already booked a hotel in Blackpool, so I'm still coming along".

Jones added: "In my eyes you're the victor".

After both couples had danced a second time the judges delivered their verdicts - and it was a unanimous decision. "He came in every single day giving his heart, soul, everything, 200 per cent no matter what after every single dance off".

Jones quit social media a few weeks ago because of the comments, while Bushell's BBC Breakfast colleague Dan Walker spoke out in defence of his friend earlier this week.

Whoever is voted out this week will miss out on Strictly's annual trip up North to the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, a highlight of the series, so viewers encouraged each other to vote for Zeroual.

Strictly Come Dancing received't be Emma's first foray into superstar competitions, having taken half in Superstar Masterchef - though she was eradicated almost instantly.
