Two upcoming events from the fund are happening this month to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer.

Women's Way will pay for mammograms for eligible North Dakotans. He however noted that this should not cause women to ignore regular breast screening as prevention is always better than cure.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed among women in the United States after skin cancer and is the second leading cause of cancer death among women after lung cancer.

Treatment for male breast cancer is generally the same as for female breast cancer.

MDC T President and a cancer survivor, Thokozani Khuphe, who is also the founder of the Thokozani Khuphe Cancer Foundation (TKCF), has also urged women and men to go for early cancer screening every month in order to fight the condition. "However, it is a disease that can be effectively treated with surgery, radiation therapy, hormone therapy and chemotherapy".

Early detection and treatment can significantly improve survival rates, according to the society.
