Stuntman-turned-director Stahelski helmed "John Wick 3", which also starred Halle Berry, Laurence Fishburne, Mark Dacascos, Asia Kate Dillon, Ian McShane and Lance Reddick.

The John Wick series, directed by ex-stunt performer Chad Stahelski, has proved a hit for the Lionsgate studio, since the first movie - centring on Reeves' retired hit man coming back into the game after Russian mobsters murder the puppy given him by his dying wife - became cult viewing. Ballerina follows the story of a female assassin who is plotting a revenge against the people behind her family's death. However, it's revealed in Parabellum that Wick was born Jardani Jovonovich, a Ruska Roma Belarusian orphan who was brought to the United States and trained by the Director.

"Ballerina" the female spinoff of the Hollywood blockbuster "John Wick" starring Keanu Reeves, is in the works with Len Wiseman on board as director.

Deadline broke the news earlier today that a spinoff movie of the popular action series - titled Ballerina - has been put on the fast track at Lionsgate.

In particular, the third movie has Unity Phelan, an actual ballerina, credited as the "Ballerina," but it isn't clear if she will be the lead role for this movie or if it will focus on some other ballerina. We don't know if John Wick himself will be in the film, and if he does it would most likely be a cameo. Her upcoming project is the Zack Snyder directed zombie heist movie, Army of the Dead, which will release later next year on Netflix.

Wiseman is best known for his work on the "Underworld" series, "Live Free or Die Hard", and the 2012 film "Total Recall". Hatten is represented by Lee Stobby Entertainment.
