Google Pixel Watch to debut next week alongside the Pixel 4

The Google Pixel 4 and Google Pixel 4 XL will nearly certainly appear next week at Google's annual Pixel event.

The most recent launch prediction comes from Nikkei Asia Review, which states, "the search giant will unveil two new 4G Pixel smartphones, as expected, and possibly a new smartwatch and notebook too".

If the report can hold its ground, Google would one-up Apple by launching a 5G smartphone first. But the 5G Pixel 4 would have to compete against the upcoming Galaxy S11 5G and OnePlus 8 5G, devices that would sport even better hardware than Google's handsets.

Google will unveil the Pixel 4 next week, and the press conference promises to be incredibly boring to anyone familiar with all the Pixel 4 rumors and leaks so far. The 5G version of the Pixel is now in testing in China apparently with an Autumn release next year (Downunder time) - while not early and over 12 months behind some 5G phones it would still put them ahead of an Apple 5G release. Following the event, a report surfaced that stated Google is not satisfied with WearOS, therefore, the launch of the alleged Pixel Watch did not take place. Google is also working on a version with 5G technology, which is in test production. Motorola has a 5G Moto Mod add-on that brings 5G connectivity to its Moto Z line of phones.

There have been plenty of rumors about the Pixel 4's features - some of which have been confirmed by Google - but 5G connectivity hasn't been at the top of the list.

Google Pixel 4 is scheduled to launch in the USA on October 15.

What we're saying is that the Pixel 4 is definitely a go for next week, but we wouldn't plan on seeing a 5G version of that phone.
