Willem Dafoe looks stark, raving mad, and while Robert Pattinson's character appears to be the saner one, he does indulge Dafoe's character in a dialogue merely comprising of the word "What", which will leave you scratching your head and saying "What?" under your breath.

All in all, Eggers has seemingly managed to up the ante on his use of both atmospheric tension and minimalism to evoke some truly unsettling results.
Filmed in 35mm black-and-white stock equipment from the 1920s and 1940s, The Lighthouse tells the story of two lighthouse keepers who must tend to a lighthouse on an isolated and mysterious New England Island in the 1890s. There re also films created to get a strong reaction from its audience, but that many people wouldn't be willing to give their time to in the first place.
The Lighthouse comes to theaters in NY and Los Angeles on October 18 before expanding nationwide.
