Jaguars list Ramsey as questionable after birth of child

The cornerback was sidelined by disease and a back injury prior to leaving the group to participate in the birth of his 2nd kid in Nashville.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - It doesn't look like the Jacksonville Jaguars are going to be able to fix the relationship with cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who reiterated on Thursday that he still wants out of Jacksonville.

"My trade request still stands", Ramsey said on the "17 Weeks Podcast" Thursday. "For me respect is a huge thing. That's why I've tried to keep it all positive even in my press conferences, on this podcast try to keep it all positive and just give a little insight". As soon as respect is lost for both parties, I think it is time to part methods. I'm going to continue being a top corner in this league for years to come. "The money will come, but money isn't everything. Peace and joy implies a lot more than the cash".

That's why he treated the Jaguars' 20-7 victory over Tennessee on September 19 as if it was his final game with the franchise that drafted him fifth overall in 2016.

"I'll say the emotion really came from the unknowns", Ramsey said. "Not understanding if that was gonna be the last game with my colleagues, not knowing how the fans would connect out there". I'm all for anybody getting time off for the birth of their child, but is Jalen's girlfriend actually in labor? Would I be getting cheers out there? "We've been in communication and we'll just see [if Ramsey will be available to play], and if anything comes up I'll make sure you're aware of it". It's been an excellent trip. "It's been a fun few years playing alongside those guys". And Ramsey said not one teammate didn't show their support for his decision. However, Ramsey insisted that he truly couldn't practice. "So, when he gets back, we'll see how he's doing".

Defensive coordinator Todd Wash said when he talked to the media on Thursday the team has a plan in place to play with Ramsey as a starter and has also made changes to their game plan should he not be there.

Ramsey was then added to the injury report Wednesday with a back injury.

On Sunday, Ramsey called the Jaguars to inform the team he was sick and wouldn't practice Monday. "We spoke about this recently and again today after practice and decided that it was best for Jalen to fly to Nashville tonight after meetings to be with his family during the birth of their daughter".
