Cal Poly ranked highly in latest US News & World Report list

The University of Pittsburgh is ranked among the nation's top 20 public colleges and universities in the 2020 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings. The school has historically had a lower percentage of Pell Grant awardees than peer institutions; in 2015, all eight Ivy League colleges, as well as Stanford and MIT, had higher percentages of students on Pell Grants. The University of South Carolina Upstate ranked No. 1 for best public Southern regional college and No. 1 among public Southern regional colleges for Top Performers on Social Mobility. At Butler, about 40 percent of students travel overseas by the time they graduate, making the University ninth in the nation for undergraduate participation.

Higher education institutions in California took most of the top five spots on a new list of the Best Colleges for Veterans among national universities.

U.S. News' methodology for ranking universities is 35% for outcomes, 20% for faculty resources, 20% for expert opinion, 10% each for financial resources and student excellence and 5% for alumni giving. It's the first time UF has raised more than $500 million in a single year. "Our students and recent graduates are proof that Wabash works; rankings like this are a chance to celebrate our good work". Duquesne University came in 132nd on that list, while Robert Morris University in Moon was ranked as 202 on the list of national universities.

The next closest ranked school in Ohio is Ohio State University at 54 overall. The University provides a vibrant campus community for more than 17,000 students by blending interdisciplinary research with an worldwide reputation for educational excellence and a faculty commitment to teaching and scholarship. The school's undergraduate business program improved six spots, moving to No. 38.

"We are proud to be recognized by U.S. News as a top liberal arts college", said Wabash President Gregory Hess.

Compared with its peer group of 10 universities, the UI ranks second from the bottom of the pack overall. Read on for the top 10 national universities and the top 10 liberal arts colleges. It measures how well schools graduated students who received federal Pell Grants.

Two years ago, UF announced an initiative to hire 500 additional new faculty, and more than half those are in place, resulting in a current student-faculty ratio of 18:1, up from 19:1 last year and 21:1 four years ago.

The university, located just a few miles from the Pacific Ocean, ranked as No. 4 in the Regional Universities West category, according to U.S. News & World Report. The University had remained at the 8th position since 2015 except for a blip in 2018, when Duke fell to ninth after being overtaken by Penn. The national universities category comprises 381 institutions (208 public, 172 private and 1 proprietary) that offer a wide range of undergraduate majors as well as master's and doctoral degrees.
