Ivorian singer DJ Arafat, 33 dies in traffic accident


Nigerian singer and songwriter, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido on Monday joined music fans to mourn popular Cote D'Ivore singer, DJ Arafat who died in a road accident in Abidjan.

Social media has been thrown into a state of shock after news trickled in yesterday- August 12 that Ivorian biggest music export, DJ Arafat has kicked the bucket after he rammed his motorcycle into a auto in Abidjan, killing him instantly.

According to state broadcaster RTI, DJ Arafat was riding his motorcycle when he smashed into a auto.

DJ Arafat was a motorbike enthusiast and many at time he would pull stunts on the road. He had a skull fracture and oedema.

DJ Arafat earned himself global fame and had established himself as the undisputed king of the offbeat dance sound.

He issued 11 albums, mainly of "coupe-decale" - a dance music form combining rapid percussion, choppy rhythms with hip hop-style vocals.
