Google Go lightweight search app now available for all Android users

It looks like Google no longer allows users to gift Play Music subscriptions via Android.

"We understand that there were certain developers, specifically messaging apps, that were using this as a backdoor to collect user data", the email said, according to the report. At 7MB, the app is a much smaller version of the traditional Google app. It's also said that even if you have a weak connection, Android Go apps will still function seamlessly. Google Play Store is one of the largest hubs for all sort of Android apps but along with such huge variety also comes a lot of malicious apps in disguise.

In addition to being created to work on low-powered devices, the app also boasts a number of features Google says cater to developing markets.

Google Go includes Lens allowing you to read, translate and search the words you see using your camera.

The interface is pretty simple.

In case you're wondering, Android Go retains several Google apps such as the popular Search engine, Google Lens, Translate and more, but in a simplified manner so it loads faster. Another, introduced last month, is Gallery Go.

Google, in 2017 launched a stripped-back version of its Android operating system for rising markets like India and Brazil, where spotty networks are an actual concern. It replaces the old Instant Run framework which was supposed to make it easier to make minor changes to your app and test them. Previously if you wanted to search an image with Google Lens, you had to opt to share it, then select Google Lens from the range of options - now this process is significantly streamlined. If you submit an app in the Play Store, you'll receive a notification regarding the time it will take to for the apps to approve.
