An Epic Universe is coming to Universal Orlando with huge new resort

On Thursday, the company unveiled a few details of the new park, called Epic Universe, in a press conference and a series of tweets.

As for the park itself, Universal just said guests will be able to travel into "beloved stories and through vibrant lands on adventures where the journey is as astounding as the destination". The site is supposedly double the size of the current acreage of the Universal Orlando Resort.

"Our vision for Epic Universe is historic", said Tom Williams, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for Universal Parks & Resorts.

The fourth park will be the biggest investment the Comcast NBCUniversal has made in its theme park business, Robert said. The park is to also to include an entertainment center, as well as hotels, shops, and restaurants.

Despite the lack of details, officials with the theme park resort promised the new park would be epic.

Still, with the smashing success of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida, one imagines there will be some kind of Wizarding World extension in Epic Universe.

"Last I heard, a universe is bigger than a world", said Williams, making a dig at Disney World. The partnership between the video game giant and the theme park group was first announced in 2015, with rides coming based on popular Nintendo games-including Super Mario Kart. An opening time frame was not announced today.

As for the rest of the map, a Fantastic Beasts land may not make sense when there's already a Harry Potter world, but Epic Universe would allow them to expand to areas that fall outside what they already have. Most significantly, Universal's announcement included a lot of dollar figures. "It is an investment in our business, our industry, our team members and our community". In fact, the concept art does appear to have some elements of leaked designs for the Nintendo theme park attraction. This is 50/50 public partnership.

"The Kirkman extension will improve transportation through a busy and growing portion of our county and open up the entire area for additional development - including an important expansion of our Convention Center", he said. He also found that construction of the new park alone will contribute a total of $11.5 billion in direct and indirect economic benefit into the Florida economy.
