R. Kelly arrested on federal child pornography charges: US attorney

Singer R. Kelly has been arrested in Chicago by NYPD detectives and Homeland Security Investigators on federal sex crime charges, according to a report from NBC New York.

The 52-year-old, whose legal name is Robert Kelly, was taken into custody by federal agents in Chicago late Thursday, the newspaper said.

He was arrested after the federal indictment was handed down earlier Thursday in federal court for the Northern District of IL.

"The indictment includes charges of child pornography, enticement of a minor, and obstruction of justice", Fitzpatrick explained.

R&B singer R Kelly has been arrested on sex trafficking charges, according to American law officials.

In May, 11 further charges of sexual abuse and assault were brought against him.

It's understood Kelly's spokesman Darrell Johnson will hold a press conference Friday morning in Atlanta.

The R&B star, whose real name is Robert Kelly, has been the subject of different se_xual abuse allegations for almost two decades, with some of the alleged acts dating back to 1998.

Kelly's attorneys could not immediately be reached for comment on the Thursday arrest.

Kelly has pleaded not guilty in both cases and vigorously denied any wrongdoing.

Facing 15 years for the charge, the Ignition singer was later acquitted by the jury of child pornography charges.

The R&B singer already faces state sex-related charges in IL involving four women, three of whom were minors when the alleged abuse occurred.

The plaintiff in that lawsuit is one of four people who have accused Kelly of criminal sexual abuse in a separate criminal case.

Kelly's lawyers have argued that she could only have sued up until 2002. "I'm fighting for my f*****g life!", R. Kelly spoke directly into the camera, about the accusations against him.
