Kanye West & Kim Kardashian Lobby White House for A$AP Rocky’s Release

Swedish prosecutors on Friday asked to keep US rapper A$AP Rocky in custody for six more days while they investigate him for aggravated assault over a street fight in Stockholm.

Kim Kardashian West took to Twitter Thursday to thank President Donald Trump, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and senior Trump adviser Jared Kushner for their apparent involvement in trying to secure rapper A$AP Rocky's release.

The Praise The Lord rapper, real name Rakim Mayers, and members of his entourage were arrested on suspicion of assault in Stockholm on 2 July after an alleged street brawl following a performance in the city.

ET has learned that the couple pushed the White House to get involved in A$AP Rocky's case.

Even though the president's subordinates were making an effort to free A$AP Rocky, the Congressional Black Caucus appeared unpleased with the work of Trump's administration thus far. Apparently Trump acknowledged that Rocky is being held unfairly and said he wanted to help.

Some pressure is now coming from members of Congress to gain freedom for imprisoned rapper A$AP Rocky, who is currently being held in Sweden. These members including Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of NY and Andre Carson of IN as well as Hispanic Caucus member Rep. Adriano Espaillat of NY. Rep. Espaillat, who represents ASAP Rocky's Harlem neighborhood, said Sweden will emerge from the situation with a black eye and he believes race is definitely a factor in his detainment. Reported first by TMZ, the president apparently has his team working to have the recording artist freed from jail.
