According to the website of the National Weather Service in Wilmington: "The combination of temperature and humidity will lift the heat index above 100 in many locations with 110 or higher possible in the warmest locations".
An Excessive Heat Watch has been issued for southern IL, western Kentucky, and southeast Missouri as temperatures in the 90s and heat index values between 100 and 110 degrees through the weekend. "To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments".
50 North in Findlay will be open as a cooling station 8 a.m.to 8 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday; and 8 a.m.to 9 p.m. Thursday. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
"The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a risky situation in which heat illnesses are possible", the weather service said.
