Niznik was active in volunteering for hunger, children and animal rescue organizations and worked with Four Winds Heart-Centered Healing.

In 2017, Niznik was among the Everwood stars that reunited at the Television Critics Association in honor of the show's 15th anniversary. She also made appearances on series such as "Grey's Anatomy", "Lost" and "NCIS". She attended Cal Arts for a master's degree before starting to land acting roles in Hollywood. Steph's final feature film was in 2009's The Twenty where she played the role of Dot.
Originally in Bangor, Maine, Niznik meant to work as a geneticist before graduating in theater and Russian from the Duke University. "I'm lucky to have known her. Rest In Peace Stephanie". The actress, who was involved in numerous charities and owned two dogs named Nucleus and Jake, leaves behind her mother, her stepfather and a brother and family, according to "Variety".
