Target challenges Amazon Prime Day with its own 48-hour deal marathon


Online retailer Amazon is planning to hold its Prime Day event next month and some details have already been confirmed.

New this year, Amazon Prime Day 2019 will offer more than one million deals globally, including new featured Lightning Deals.

Heads up, deal hunters: Amazon Prime Day doesn't officially kick off until July 15, but the company is drumming up excitement for the main event with a few deals that are available right now.

Prime Day, the annual shopping event for Prime members, will run July 15 to 16.

Prime Day 2018 was in fact so popular that the retail site was initially unable to handle the volume of traffic it was receiving, forcing Amazon to temporarily cut worldwide visits until additional servers could be installed to handle the load.

Australia saw its first Prime Day Down Under last year, and Amazon says it will grow significantly this year. And you can enjoy deals starting now. For instance, Prime members who are E-bike enthusiasts can score a special-edition electric bike from Schwinn during Amazon Prime Day's 48 hour shopping event.

It's time to get ready for two full days of deals on Amazon Prime Day.

That's according to a new study of U.S. and U.K. Prime members from Profitero, which revealed that the annual shopping extravaganza is gaining more steam with each passing year.

In a recent PCMag survey, 36 percent of expectant Prime Day shoppers said they are concerned about porch pirates stealing their packages.

More than half of Prime members who purchased last Prime Day - 56% in the USA and 53% in the United Kingdom - expect to spend more this year across multiple categories, from electronics to groceries. Eastern on Wednesday, July 16.

Block your calendars, Amazon Prime Day is coming. And 58% of U.S. Prime members compare prices on other sites first before buying a Prime Day deal on Amazon.

Amazon said it will expand its Prime Day to 48 hours, compared with 36 hours a year ago.

The company appears to be taking the marketing of Prime Day very seriously. In fact, Amazon was quick to note on Tuesday that numerous deals will be available on a limited supply of products.
