Real Madrid confirm signing of Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard's move to Real Madrid was completed on Friday, with the Chelsea superstar joining the Spanish giants for a fee which could rise to £150m.

His final game for The Blues saw him score two goals and lift the Europa League following a 4-1 victory over Arsenal. "He provided all who watched Chelsea play with great entertainment and many match-winning contributions, and for that we thank Eden enormously", she said.

Hazard referred to the London club as "special" multiple times and noted how the fans helped him grow from a young player arriving from France into the world-class attacker he is today.

Writing on Facebook, he added: "I hope you understand I had to pursue my next chapter, just as each and every one of you should when you have the chance to pursue your dreams".

Hazard had implied he wanted to leave Chelsea after helping the club to this season's Europa League title less than a fortnight ago.

You know, I want Eden to do well at Madrid, but then I remember Courtois is there and I HATE him and want him to fail miserably, but in order for Eden to do well Courtois has to do well too?

"He's much more colourful there and he will fill Real Madrid fans' eyes with joy". Nonetheless, even if the ban is lifted under some circumstances, it is to be seen if the club could ever sign a real replacement for the 28-year-old. He became a fixture at the club, making 352 appearances across all competitions and scoring 110 goals, plus another 92 assists.

Hazard signed off in flawless style, spearheading the 4-1 Europa League final triumph over Arsenal in Baku, scoring twice and assisting another.

With that in mind, Hazard is expected to play off the left flank, where his supreme ability with both feet can really shine.

Chelsea said the club had tried to persuade Hazard to stay. There has been a feeling in the present season that the Belgian had somewhat outgrown Chelsea and with a transfer ban looming on the club, it would be tough for them to provide enough reinforcements to challenge for the title.
