Marcus Stoinis in doubt as much-maligned replacement touted

Pakistan are now ranked 8th in the points table of the World Cup 2019 with one win from three matches.

India set a mammoth 352 for Australia to chase down, but despite getting runs Warner scored his slowest ODI fifty to date with a strike rate of just 71.84.

The Cricket World Cup has been blighted by a third washed out game in the past six matches when Bangladesh and Sri Lanka were unable to deliver a single ball at a soggy County Ground in Bristol overnight. The Sarfraz-led side then came back strongly beating favourites England in their second match.

Marcus Stoinis is in doubt for Australia's match with Pakistan, reporting a side strain.

"He won't be available for tomorrow".

"We've seen consistently throughout, especially ICC tournaments, that they win a lot of games and they get themselves in a position to win the tournament".

"(We're) not exactly sure how many games he will miss", Australia's captain Aaron Finch said. "It's still being assessed". And over the next couple of days we'll have a clearer picture on what that looks like.

Stoinis failed with the bat against India, as he was bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a duck.

All-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been flown over to England as back-up, but the Australians will wait to make a call on whether he permanently replaces Stoinis in their 15-man squad.

The extent of his injury is still unknown but CA have done well to fly Marsh in as an injury cover so that the all-rounder can get acclimatised to the conditions in case he will have to be drafted into the squad.

The defending champions won their opening two games against Afghanistan and West Indies.

They are now fourth in the table with four points. Following the washout against Sri Lanka, Pakistan received one point and now from three games, they have just three points in their kitty.

All 10 teams play each other once in the round-robin group stage, with the top four qualifying for the semi-finals.
