Man City fans in epic meltdown after Premier League puts Liverpool first

Welcome to the latest football transfer gossip column from The Sport Review, featuring all of the latest Premier League transfer news and rumours.

This will be the early December midweek fixtures as well as the Boxing Day games.

City edged out Liverpool to defend their crown after winning 14 Premier League games in a row in a stunning run of form from February.

The season is broken down into five sets of fixtures and in any five matches, there should be a split of three home and two away matches - or the other way round.

West Ham are at home on the opening day (August 10) against top opposition yet again as they face champions Manchester City.

Ryan Bennett was a part of that but on paper, he looks the weakest of the defensive options Santo preferred last season and Tarkowski would be a clear upgrade on the former Norwich man.

Paul Lambert's side kick-off the League One season on Saturday August 3, as the Blues begin their quest to return to the Championship at the first time of asking.

City and Liverpool are not scheduled to meet until November, which will give both teams a chance to find their Premier League rhythm.

The 2019/20 season's first Manchester derby between City and United will take place at the Etihad on December 7, with the corresponding Old Trafford tie coming on 7 March, 2020.

Like last season, Liverpool are at home in the first of their two meetings with the defending champions, hosting City on November 9.

It's a tricky run-in for Klopp's men - who collected nine wins from their final nine games last season.

Klopp's men will then have back-to-back outings against Tottenham and Manchester United in January, while Chelsea welcome Arsenal to Stamford Bridge.

And the final game of the campaign is set to be against Newcastle on May 17 at St James' Park.
