The 69-year-old actress has confirmed that she will reprise her role as cellist Dana Barrett, whose apartment was haunted by an evil spirit in the original 1984 film, in the new movie and she will be reuniting with co-stars Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd. A Vanity Fair article recently reported that actress Carrie Coon, who starred in the third season of Fargo, and Stranger Things actor Finn Wolfhard are rumoured to be in the cast as well. And while fans were excited to celebrate the series and get a sneak peek at some exclusive merch, many were there to find out new details about Jason Reitman's upcoming Ghostbusters 3.
"Sigourney has read the screenplay..." Weaver didn't say much about the casting in general, except to say that it's "going to be insane working with the guys again!" Dan has read it... At the 2019 Ghostbusters Fan Fest, presented by Wizard World, Reitman appeared at a panel to talk about his new movie. Ernie's read the script... "I wanted to make a movie for all the other fans".

Little is known about the sequel except that it will be a follow up to the original film, directed by Jason Reitman, the son of original director Ivan Reitman.
Set for release on the 10th of July, 2020, the new Ghostbusters film comes after the previous two, skipping the last one for unknown reasons. "And I knew this was a movie I needed to write and I reached out to my writing parter Gil Kenan, and we sat down and started writing this movie".
