Devolver Digital Just Held An E3 "Devolver Direct" and It Was Ridiculous

For the past few years, Devolver Digital has been providing an E3 show that's full of laughs, exceptional levels of violence, and tons of meta-humor.

Ultimate Knockout trailer showed off what appears to be a colourfully competitive online multiplayer title from Mediatonic. Plus, the announcement of four new games. Hordes of contestants are pitted in a gameshow-like obstacle course battling through physics-based gameplay to avoid elimination and reach the end of the stage. Devolver Bootleg seemed to riff on the grey markets of Steam Direct and G2A, and it seemed too absurd to be real.

Devolver Digital has announced "Carrion", a new "reverse-horror" platformer with a pixel-art aesthetic. Usually, in horror titles, we are the ones being hunted by some terrifying entity but this time you assume the role of an amorphous creature of unknown origin as you prey and consume those that imprisoned you to spread fear and panic throughout the facility. We're not ruling out a home console port, but we reckon they probably mean you can buy your own arcade cabinet, which we can afford, right?

Enter the Gungeon: House of the Gundead is a two-player light gun arcade game where players fight the army of the Gundead while unlocking weapons alongside a friend.

It's now available to pre-order for $5,000 through Griffin Aerotech, but don't worry: there's a six-month special financing offer.

The Messenger's free DLC, Picnic Panic, received a new trailer and a release date of July 11, 2019 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC.
