Stonebwoy & Shatta Wale fight big shame - Kwami Sefa Kayi

The 20th edition of the VGMAs almost turned bloody when fans of Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale engaged in near-fisticuffs over an award.

This was as a resulted of a heated squabble between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale as well as their crew members.

The camp of Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale clashed on stage when Stonebwoy was announced as the victor for the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year category.

They were prevented by Stonebwoy's team which led to a free for all fight and even saw Stonebwoy wield a gun on the stage.

Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale are both popular musicians in Ghana with fans regularly arguing over who is best.

According to an explanation that Shatta Wale posted on Twitter, he only wanted to congratulate his rival on his award, something people have dismissed.

It said preliminary investigations conducted so far had established that the disturbance started after Stonebwoy had been declared Dancehall Artiste of the Year and had mounted the stage to receive his award.

He was consequently arrested and handcuffed by security operatives at the venue of the event.

"I come in peace and I go in peace and I apologise to the whole masses of Ghana that the Awards is going to continue".

He again in a press release apologized for the incident and said his team had begun taking actions to review their security system and also find ways of ensuring that such incident do not recur.

They were granted bail on Monday afternoon after spending a night in police custody.
