Iger wouldn't comment on what their film will be about, when it will be set, or any additional details about its production.

During the summit, Iger discussed the future of the Star Wars franchise in both film and television.

The studio revealed earlier this week that the next Star Wars movies will hit theaters on December 16, 2022, December 12, 2024 and December 18, 2026, which were expected by most fans to be Johnson's trilogy, but Bob Iger confirmed otherwise. "The next movie that we release will be theirs", said Iger, talking about Weiss and Benioff.

At the NY summit, Iger also talked about the two live-action Star Wars shows coming to Disney+, Jon Favreau'sThe Mandalorian and the untitled Cassian Andor series that serves as a prequel to Rogue One.

The first new film will arrive in 2022, as indicated by a recent announcement from Disney spacing three new Star Wars films in the next decade around new installments of James Cameron's Avatar series. "We haven't said anything more beyond what we've announced on the next film". "Now, we're not going to wait until [The Rise of Skywalker] is released and start figuring it out, we're actually hard at work doing that already", he said. "The conclusion that we reached was that three years was the proper amount of time to not only take a breather and reset, but to really gear up for the next film's release".

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker opens up December 20th, 2019, wrapping up the trilogy that J.J. Abrams kicked off four years ago.

"... In the interim we are producing two Star Wars live-action series for Disney+: one of them is called "The Mandalorian", which being supervised by Jon Favreau, and the other one is a bit of a prequel to "Rogue One".

Iger said he hasn't seen the finished Rise of Skywalker yet, but he expects it will be extremely popular.
