Venezuela is only one of a slew of issues where the United States and Russian Federation have clashed.
After speaking with Putin last Friday, Trump appeared to undercut strong criticism of Russia's support for embattled Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro from Pompeo and national security adviser John Bolton.
On May 13, he will arrive in Russian Federation to meet with his team at U.S. Embassy Moscow before meeting with U.S. business leaders and U.S. exchange alumni.
A State Department official says Pompeo will meet with European officials Monday "to discuss a range of pressing matters including Iran".
In theory that probably means Pompeo brow-beating Russia over how Ukraine hasn't managed to crush the ethnic Russian region along the Russian border, something the USA has long had a problem with.
It was not immediately clear why there was a change in the schedule.
Pompeo has already canceled in recent days trips to Berlin and Greenland to focus on the Iran issue.
