New Coke is back? 'Stranger Things' have happened

Stranger Things is definitely one of the best shows on TV at the moment and hopefully, season 3 can only build on the remarkable stories the Duffer Brothers have been building so far and help take us even deeper into the world of The Upside Down. The new recipe did not make any fans as it caused a huge backlash among drinkers of the original.

"In a first-of-its-kind partnership for Netflix, the "Stranger Things" team collaborated with Coca-Cola to immerse viewers in 1980s nostalgia", the beverage giant said in a statement.

Coca-Cola will be bringing back a "limited amount" of New Coke cans for purchase in honor of Stranger Things' third season.

Will the kids of Hawkins enjoy the taste of New Coke, or will they feel the same way as many other Americans who actually phoned the Coca Cola Atlanta office to complain? If so, you might remember this short-lived bubbly drink from the '80s, which did not really take off with customers back in the day. "It would have been more freaky to not include it". Coca-Cola has produced under 500,000 of the New Coke 12-ounce cans, and expects to run out quickly.

The soda, a revamped formula of the tried-and-true-classic, was derided by fans, and pulled from shelves after just 79 days in what is widely considered one of the biggest product flops of all time.

"Maybe a while ago we wouldn't have done this", Kronauge said.

"Stranger Things" is Netflix's most popular original series, according to data from outside researchers, and has served as a way for Netflix to toy with new business opportunities. Coke will also set up vending machines in select cities the same filled with New Coke for free. "We're excited to partner with Netflix and play a key role in recreating the summer of 1985 in a uniquely Coca-Cola way". The company will sell a small batch of "Stranger Things"-branded glass bottles on its website, giving buyers a gift of two cans of New Coke when they buy two bottles".

Coca-Cola announced Tuesday on Twitter that it's bringing back the failed soft-drink in conjunction with the July 4 release of season 3 of "Stranger Things".
