"It's a very important moment for me, I come to a turning point in my career", Mbappé said when accepting the award.

The 20-year-old, who has scored 32 league goals in 2018/19 so far, was named the Young Player of the Year for a third time running.

There were several Paris Saint-Germain players in the dream line-up, with the complete team of the year as follows: Mike Maignan; Kenny Lala, Marquinhos, Thiago Silva, Ferland Mendy; Angel Di Maria, Tanguy Ndombele, Marco Verratti; Nicolas Pepe, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar. This is a very big award and time for me. "Or maybe elsewhere with a new project".

"I have discovered a lot here, and I feel it is maybe the moment to have more responsibility". He has always been honest with me since the first day I arrived so I want to thank him.

Speaking following the ceremony, Mbappe backed up his earlier comments but was unwilling to add any more. "It was the message I wanted to send".

'If I speak more it will be too much and that is not the message I wish to send'. "I said it. If it is at PSG, that's good, if it is elsewhere, it is elsewhere".

Mbappe has been regularly linked with a potential move to Real Madrid since breaking through with Monaco's 2017 Ligue 1 title-winning team, but instead made the switch to PSG, initially on loan, and then for 180 million euros.

What could really work for Mbappe this time is the presence of Zinedine Zidane in the Real Madrid camp.

Mbappe is one of the hot favourites, as per Diario GOL, Real Madrid are keeping their options open and could rope in Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford.

Just in case you might have thought it was taken out of context, Mbappe emphasised the point in the mixed zone to reporters afterwards.
