Bucks need better bench play to regain control against Raptors

For all the heartbreaking losses experienced by Toronto sports fans in the downtown concrete square over the years, Thursday night's Raptors win to inch ever-so-close to their first National Basketball Association championship final was just a little sweeter.

It would be hard, at this point, for Kawhi Leonard to hit a bigger shot than his Game 7 game-winner against the Philadelphia 76ers.

They had been there before - tied 2-2 in the third round after taking Games 3 and 4 at home.

On Wednesday, a tweet from a senior executive for Octagon, the agency representing Antetokounmpo, called out Drake for his repeated trolling of the Bucks in general and specifically their superstar power forward.

Siakam then drove for a dunk, making it 102-97, and the Raptors hung on from there. The Cavs won Game 5 by 38 points on their home court. "You know, to be on the court, there's boundaries and lines for a reason, and like I said, the league is usually pretty good at being on top of stuff like that".

Six days ago VanVleet was hearing how his minutes, as sparse as they were, should have been going to someone else. At one point, the "Nonstop" rapper was caught on camera cheering and massaging the shoulders of Toronto's head coach, Nick Nurse.

That faith was repaid in spades Thursday night. "He knows that. We all know it", he said of Bledsoe.

"He oozes the confidence that spreads to the other guys", Nurse said of VanVleet's big night.

For much of the second half of the game he stood, pacing across the stage on most possessions, jumping around when the Raps made a shot or stop. Great game by him though.

Leonard is a bit beaten up, as is every player on the teams still alive, but he's not going to use nagging tweaks in both his legs as any kind of excuse.

Leonard's experience showed in Game 5, as it has for most of the series.

Their defence, which has been excellent for most of the postseason, locked in during the second quarter, holding Milwaukee to 17 points on 6-of-22 shooting.

But it was his offensive game, particularly his fourth quarter that was so stunning.

During the first quarter of Thursday's matchup, Mallory Edens, daughter of Bucks owner Wes Edens, was shown on the game broadcast seated next to Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. We're gonna go in, give it everything we got. Toronto has come back from an early 0-2 series deficit.

Brogdon has been a starter for most of his career. Sure, the Bucks had never trailed in this series.

"It's first to four". Then, a 26-point victory in Game 6 ended it. Gasol finished with four points.
