Real Madrid target Mane assures Liverpool: I want to be a legend

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has admitted that Portugal global Cristiano Ronaldo can never be replaced at the Spanish club.

Madrid put in the kind of lethargic performance which has plagued their season, with Marco Asensio and Raphael Varane missing good first-half chances.

Mane is now enjoying the best season of his career, having broken his best goals tally whilst playing in England already.

Real Madrid are adamant that they won't let such a huge prospect leave only a year after signing for £40m, however, and have rebuffed Liverpool's suggestion.

Leganes might even have won it after Jonathan Silva gave them the lead shortly before half-time and while Benzema scored his 26th goal of the season, Madrid never looked like finding a victor.

Zidane was asked last month about the humiliation of playing on a Monday night, the time typically reserved for La Liga's sides not involved in European competitions and so unpopular that it will be abolished next season.

Leganes, who are now 10 points clear of the bottom three, led through Jonathan Silva at the Butarque Municipal Stadium before Benzema hauled Zinedine Zidane's misfiring side level early in the second half.

Silva headed straight at Navas and Youssef En-Nesyri had a goal correctly ruled out for offside late on.

Wales global Gareth Bale was a late substitute, only had four touches in 12 minutes, and walked straight down the tunnel at the final whistle. There will be talk about everyone, every player is good and important.

"I think he's having a fantastic season", Carvajal added.

"The changes will be made known at the end of the season. We make the changes to win the game, and we did not do that today".
