The 123rd annual Boston Marathon was held today, with celebrities such as former New England Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi, seven time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson, and National Football League player Andrew East making the trek. She added that she plans to race in the Chicago Marathon in October.

McCormack has been showing excellent form recently as she chases qualification for Tokyo.

Instead, she became the eighth Ethiopian woman to win the race and the third in seven years.

The 2019 Boston Marathon's men's race was won by just two seconds by Lewrence Cherono in 2:07:57.

Marathon Monday's weather certainly wasn't ideal, but Powers said it is much better than last year's conditions.

Degefa crossed the finish line in Boston's Back Bay in an unofficial time of 2 hours, 23 minutes, 30 seconds.

He came to Boston after competing in Saturday night's Cup Series Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond (Va.) Raceway, charging from 34th on the grid to finish 12th after pre-race inspection issues relegated he and a host of others to the rear of the field for the start. The Maryland native finished third last year in Boston, but this year he took home the top prize with a time of 1:21:36.

"I knew it was possible, it's a matter of just everything coming together", Romanchuk said in a post-race interview on TV. "Today I would say [was] unfinished business".
