He is full of energy and life and enjoys soccer, playing with friends and family and playing hockey with his brother and sister. The GoFundMe raised more than $380,000 in less than 24 hours.

Witnesses told police that the alleged attacker "took off running immediately after the incident". Police credited a concerned bystander for chasing the suspect, and the Mall security for tracking him to the transportation station where he was apprehended.

'This was a senseless act and words can not truly express our profound shock and sadness, ' the Mall of America said in a statement on Friday. The incident left witnesses in disbelief.

"We have counselling services available for anyone who may need assistance".

"I know there's been some reports and some concerns about whether or not he is still alive", Potts said.

Aranda also held previous convictions for obstruction of the legal process/interfering with a peace officer, fifth-degree assault, trespassing and damage to property.

In 2015, Aranda ignored an order to stay away from the mall and was arrested after panhandling and harassing two female diners, a criminal complaint said. In another case, Aranda assaulted a woman inside Twin City Grill after she refused to buy him food.
