Bettor wins more than $1M on Tiger, sportsbook's 'biggest loss ever'

Perhaps no one aside from Woods himself stood to benefit from his redemption more than Nike.

Nationally, CBS's overnight Masters ratings in the nation's largest markets averaged a 7.7 household rating for Woods' first victory in a major in 11 years and first triumph at Augusta National since 2005.

Tiger Woods won his fifth Masters on Sunday marking his first major since 2008 and his 15th in total-enough to tie Novak Djokovic's Grand Slam count, though eight shy of Serena Williams' 23.

With this latest win, Woods, 43-years-old, became the youngest golfer to win the Masters Tournament since Jack Nicklaus in the year 1986. One pessimistic gambler bet $20,000 on "no" at -100,000 odds, meaning he will win just $20 if Woods fails to win the PGA Championship, the U.S. Open, and the Open Championship later this year.

Then it is the British Open, at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland, where nobody in this year's field has played a tournament.

Bettors jumped on Woods early and often over the course of the week, intensifying their investment in him as he got off to a good start in the tournament. McIlroy and Justin Thomas are right behind them at 12/1.

"I thought it was a pretty neat look back in the day", Woods said about repeating the fashion choice.

"It keeps 18 (majors) in play", Fowler told a small group of reporters amid what for Augusta National amounted to frenzied scenes outside the clubhouse as thousands of spectators congregated hoping to catch a glimpse of the new champion.

"He's been there a lot, more than anyone, but it had been a while since he had a chance to win here".

Other celebrities offered words of congratulations after Woods' history-making win."Do you believe in redemption???.YES!" A tense-looking Phelps was seen in the crowd behind Woods during the Masters. I was a little better at the PGA, but still I didn't win. "I didn't know what was happening".
