Halo: The Master Chief Collection PC Announcement

The announcement is one of two pieces of good news - the company is also adding Halo: Reach to the MCC. The Master Chief Collection compilation is about to see the light of day on PC for the first time, with Microsoft Store and Steam releases both planned for later this year.

Honoring the iconic hero and his epic journey, The Master Chief's story is brought together with a total of 67 campaign missions plus more than 120 multiplayer maps (including the original Halo Combat Evolved maps) and Spartan Ops maps. A representative from 343 Industries explained that the staggered release would give the developers time to focus on each title.

Since the collection will be released in individual titles, they will also be sold as such. However, it is known that Halo: Reach is the first game that will be released, and the order in which each game is released thereafter is based on when they chronologically occurred in the Halo universe timeline.

The Master Chief Collection will be coming to PC in waves, beginning with the prequel Halo: Reach.

We won't be getting all six games from the Master Chief Collection at once though. If you are an Xbox Game Pass subscriber though, you'll get all of Halo: Reach as part of the subscription on Xbox One. This title was previously omitted from the collection, likely due to the fact Master Chief isn't actually in this game. After Reach releases, look for the game to gradually add in Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, the Halo 3: ODST campaign, and Halo 4.

"MCC will be updated and enhanced for PC with 4K HDR visuals, 60FPS gameplay".

What do you think about all of this?

Though we are relatively light on details, the fact the Halo games are even coming to PC is absolutely fantastic, and I can't wait for the PC gaming community to finally get their hands on the franchise after being hung out to dry since 2004.
