Females heart, soul of `Kalank`: Karan Johar

Period dramas are the new trend of Bollywood and Karan Johar has finally hopped on to this bandwagon with his larger than life multi starrer romantic drama Kalank. He said, "In the beginning, we fought a lot". I apologised to everyone on the set but Alia was not talking to me. I thought she had signed two-three big films, so maybe that's the reason. "But like always, I had to only hold her from falling and as soon as this happened, Alia smiled". "But later she told me that she was just in her character".

Varun went on to share another story about how Alia would not talk to him because he had arrived 20 minutes late to the sets.

"A film that was born in my heart and mind 15 years ago....a film I passionately believe in...the last film my father worked on before he left us....it was his dream to see this film come through...." He then dropped her out of the stage in the same manner. Starring Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Varun Dhawan and Aditya Roy Kapur, Kalank will be set in the 1940s, around the unrest and turmoil faced by India and Pakistan at the time of Partition. It is directed by Abhishek Varman and produced by Karan, Sajid Nadiadwala and Fox Star Studios. Meanwhile, an intense scene of Kalank, featuring Alia Bhatt has taken the Internet by storm and netizens are coming up with own version of memes! The movie will be released on April 17.
