Phillies rumors: Bryce Harper race down to two teams

Major League Baseball pitchers and catchers have begun reporting to spring training, and most teams will begin their full workouts sometime over the next week.

The Phillies and possibly the White Sox - and maybe even the Padres - have been rumored in on Harper, however, and surely at least one team will offer something longer than the five years the Giants reportedly offered.

"The Giants don't want to give a 10-year contract", Nightengale began.

Really, no one knows except maybe Harper himself, and he's being stingy with the details.

"I know a couple of us got the unfollow the other day, so I don't know if that's writing on the wall or what", wing Tom Wilson told reporters Monday of Harper, who rooted for his hometown Knights over the Capitals in the Stanley Cup. The only Capitals player remaining was goaltender Braden Holtby.

It's unclear what the Giants have in mind, but a source said they did not make an offer of any kind when they met with Harper a week ago. Regardless, the second tier of teams behind those four favorites include the Philadelphia Phillies (+1000), Chicago Cubs (+1200), St. Louis Cardinals (+1200), Milwaukee Brewers (+1400), Atlanta Braves, (+1600), New York Mets (+1600), Washington Nationals (+1600) and Cleveland Indians (+1600).

Harper follows 24 accounts on Twitter. He also still follows the Nats.

The #Nationals pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training on Wednesday and Bryce Harper still hasn't signed with a team.

"I know he always keeps it pretty tight, but yeah, that'll be a hint for sure", Wilson said.
