OnePlus’ 5G prototype smartphone will be shown off at MWC

The company had said that the event is for the networking objective only and that it does not intend to launch any new product. OnePlus is gearing up to showcase its first ever 5G phone at the MWC 2019 event.

OnePlus has invited members of the media and telecommunications industry to try out a demonstration of a prototype 5G smartphone on a fully functioning 5G network at Qualcomm's booth at the upcoming MWC 2019 trade show in just two weeks' time.

OnePlus recently announced its "Connect with the OnePlus Community over 5G" event at the mobile tech show. The company's CEO has spoken about the 5G revolution and how OnePlus will be launching a 5G-ready handset, which will arrive alongside a non-5G flagship. Furthermore, the company mentions that those attending to the event will be able to get a taste of 5G gaming Experience through one of its latest "OnePlus Prototype with 5G". Also, being one of the first to market with a 5G phone is not about bragging rights, but about allowing it to learn and iterate for future products. "Keep an eye out for the limited-edition Qualcomm x OnePlus pin badge, only available at the OnePlus stand", OnePlus told XDA Developers in a statement.

Naturally, the device will be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 mobile platform and X50 modem, since 5G connection requires both.
