The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news and also says that Netflix will screen the film first and then it will air on usa network AMC, a reverse of how Breaking Bad was first shown.

Neither Netflix nor AMC immediately responded to Mashable's request for comment.

And now for a little Breaking news. (Hopefully not in a drug haze, though.) So it's only fitting that the shrouded-in-secrecy Breaking Bad movie will reportedly be released on Netflix, then AMC, where the show aired.

This would be an interesting reversal of the way that the series first aired, with each season dropping episodes weekly in a standard broadcast TV model before heading to Netflix for the world's binging pleasure roughly a year after the conclusion of each season.

Breaking Bad fans, better keep your Netflix and/or cable subscriptions up to date.

"I think Netflix kept us on the air", Gilligan said in the speech. "I don't think our show would have even lasted beyond season two [without it]". Gilligan will both write and direct the film, and he'll be joined by producers Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein.

"I hear the script is being shot as a feature though it has not been determined yet how it will air, as a film or cut into episodes."

'I don't know if there's an appearance - flashbacks, flash forwards - but I'm excited about it because it's Breaking Bad and it was the greatest professional period of my life and I can't wait to see all those people again, even if I just come by to visit'.

A project by the name of Greenbriar - possibly a code name - was listed as staring production in mid-November in Albuquerque, according to the New Mexico Film Office. The prequel-ish show Better Call Saul has also received a ton of critical acclaim. In the movie, Pinkman, who's wrongfully kidnapped by perpetrators, manages to escape and sets out to live a free life.
