The Patriots didn't exactly have the best depth at the wide receiver position last season, but apparently it wasn't because they didn't try to add a star player.
It's no surprise that San Francisco is in the market for a No. 1 wide receiver.
The 2018 season was a tough one for the New York Giants as they had a awful year on the field, but also came close to trading away star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. That didn't work out, and I think the Giants got cold feet and said, 'Wait, New England wants him? According to Simms, the Giants were "really close" to moving their star wideout, but New England was a reason for the team opting against doing so.
"You know what really stopped NY from trading Odell?" They've already been at the center of rumors surrounding a potential Antonio Brown trade, and now it appears they're still in the running for Beckham's services as well - assuming the New York Giants commit to making him available. And I think this is going to shock people.More news: 'Empire' actor charged with lying to police about racist attack

At least, that's the scuttlebutt that Chris Simms reported Monday on Pro Football Talk Live: "The thing that stopped the trade covnversation over Odell Beckham Jr.is that the team that was most aggressive pursuing him was the New England Patriots".
It's worth pointing out Beckham has been active on Tom Brady's Instagram page in recent days, which obviously caught the attention of Patriots fans.
Jay Glazer of FOX and The Athletic went so far as to predict that Beckham gets moved this off-season. As Florio points out, the Patriots have had success throughout the Brady-Belichick era trading for receivers. He missed four games previous year due to injury but still totaled 1,052 yards with 77 receptions and six scores.
