In the television category, the stars of Killing Eve, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel and The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story all took awards home. "Maisel" won the top comedy honor for the second year in a row, and series star Rachel Brosnahan also was a repeat victor for best actress in a comedy series. The split win comes a week after Close won the Golden Globe Award for best actress in a film drama, an award that many expected Lady Gaga would win.
Green Book star Mahershala Ali added to his Golden Globes success by picking up the best supporting actor award.
The entire cast, which also includes Nicholas Hoult and Joe Alwyn, has been nominated for the Best Acting Ensemble award.
