‘Red Dead Online’ Gets Battle Royale Mode

Red Dead Online, the online multiplayer mode for the smash-hit Western game Red Dead Redemption 2, has introduced a new battle royale game mode in the same vein as PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG), called 'Gun Rush'. You can either be a wild renegade and go solo or get some of your pals together to play it as a team and take on the world.

Red Dead Online already had a battle royale-style game mode previously, but it came wjtha twist. Check out the 90 minute gameplay stream embedded below for a great idea of what you can expect from the Gun Rush mode and content.

Though Rockstar's description of Gun Rush is fairly brief, it says enough to know that this isn't quite like other battle royales we encountered throughout 2018.

"Soon, players will get a bounty for committing crimes and will be incentivized to pay them off within an allotted time", Rockstar explained. Failure to do so will result in bounty hunters from each of the states hunting the player down, forcing them to either pay their dues or try to escape. The Parley system will also be easier to activate to avoid hostile players, and Player Blips will now only be visible at shorter distances to prevent hostile snipers.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" was one of the most celebrated games of 2018, and with ongoing support for Red Dead Online, the game won't soon be forgotten. In addition, it will be easier to trigger Feuds, Posse Feuds and Leader Feuds to take on attacking players in the structured competition. Griefers could also be identified with a gradually darkening blip and become more visible at increasing ranges soon. More Dynamic Events will be added, as well as more competitive modes, more weapons and more clothes.

Beyond all this, new A Land of Opportunities story missions are coming featuring both existing characters (Horley and Jessica LeClerk are mentioned by name) and new ones. The Gun Rush mode is free and available right now in Red Dead Online, so if you've yet to check it out, you can do so immediately.
