Meghan Markle given NEW Royal duties by the Queen

The announcement today, January 10 of the royal patronages shows the Duchess is being given more of a role in the royal family and is making more steps in her public life.

A theatre spokeswoman declined to comment, while Kensington Palace would not confirm the patronage.

Kensington Palace have now sought to regain control of the announcement, officially revealing Meghan's first four patronages on Thursday, which are the first official royal responsibilities given to her since her marriage to Prince Harry eight months ago.

Kensington Palace said Thursday that Meghan will take over two roles as patron that have for decades been held by Queen Elizabeth II and is taking two other roles as well.

The Queen previously was patron of the National Theatre and the ACU, but has now passed them on to the duchess. "Her Royal Highness feels she can use her position to focus attention on, and make a particular difference to these organizations and, more widely, the sectors they each represent".

Along with her rumored rift with the Duchess of Cambridge, the "Suits" actress was also bothered by an article published by Vanity Fair that portrayed her as a social climber.

She has held meetings and visited all four organizations over the past year, the palace said.
