Craig McLachlan charged by police

One of Australia's leading musical performers, Christie Whelan Browne, who performed the lead role of Janet during the 2014 Rocky Horror tour, has told police that McLachlan indecently assaulted her during the show.

In November a year ago, a preliminary hearing of the defamation case was told McLachlan declined to participate in an interview with Victoria Police as part of their investigation into the allegations of assault and indecent assault.

The 53-year-old Australian native is famous for his roles in Aussie soaps Home and Away, and Neighbours.

Victoria Police have charged actor Craig McLachlan with one count of common assault and eight counts of indecent assault.

The actor denied all allegations at the time, claiming they were "perhaps made for financial reasons".

He later left the stage production in 2018.

He also released the song Mona (I Need You Baby) and toured the United Kingdom and Europe with his band Check 1-2. Mr McLachlan was accused of sexual harassment by several actresses during his career.

He now lives in New South Wales and will have to travel to Melbourne for the court appearances.

It is not now clear exactly what alleged incidents these charges are related to.
