Huawei will release a smartphone with a "leaky" display on 17 December

The Galaxy A8s will launch on December 10 after which it should make its way to other countries, notably the U.S., as suggested by these certifications.

On the specification front, the new Samsung Galaxy A8s is expected to carry a 6.39-inch display FHD+ resolution as well as aspect ratio of 19.5:9. Huawei has announced that December 4th will be the launch date of Nova 4 on its Weibo account. The image also has the Huawei logo on the top right side and the launch date, December 17.

Huawei's Nova 4, a smartphone with a "hole punch" display - meaning the display only has a tiny round cutout to accommodate for the selfie camera - is set to be announced on December 17, according to a new teaser. But the Nova 4 is unlike anything that the series has seen before.

Other than Huawei and Samsung, it seems that Lenovo may also introduce a smartphone with a similar design which features a front circular camera cutout.

Yesterday we reported that Huawei could become world's first handset maker to launch a phone with an in-display hole for the selfie camera, dubbed as Nova 4.

The Samsung Galaxy A8s will ship with Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box which is a bit let down considering that Google had already released the stable Android 9 Pie back in August this year. The Galaxy A8s is also tipped to house a 3,400mAh battery.

"We're proud to work alongside innovative partners like Verizon and Qualcomm Technologies to deliver a smartphone that will fundamentally transform how people work and play", said Justin Denison, Senior Vice President, Mobile Product Strategy and Marketing at Samsung Electronics America. Inside the chassis, the Galaxy A8s could boast either a Snapdragon 710 SoC or a Snapdragon 660 AIE processor. The Galaxy A8s is expected to come with a vertically aligned triple rear camera setup with a combination of a 24-megapixel primary camera, and 10-megapixel and 5-megapixel cameras.
