Kevin Love Undergoes Surgery, Will Be Evaluated In 6 Weeks

Forward Kevin Love will be out at least six weeks - and maybe longer - after surgery on his left foot, another blow to a team in disarray in its first season following LeBron James' departure.

The team announced that Love had the procedure, calling it successful, at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.

Drew went 8-1 as fill-in coach last season while Lue was on a medical leave to deal with anxiety issues. Cleveland is trying to develop young players while staying competitive, but with Love out it's going to be even harder. The five-time All-Star signed a four-year, $120 million contract extension this summer.

"At one point during Saturday's game, veteran starting point guard George Hill told Sexton he'd teach him how to play defense". Love has missed more than 20 games in six of his 11 National Basketball Association seasons, five of his last eight and each of the last three.

Larry Drew is frantically searching for the right combinations that will help turn the Cavaliers' wretched form around after eight defeats in nine games.

On Friday, the Cavs released a strongly worded statement contesting Boylan's lawsuit and said it will "seek immediate dismissal of this disappointing, unwarranted and baseless claim".

Knowing what usually happens to interim head coaches, Drew was seeking additional guarantees from the Cavaliers in terms of money and the length of his contract in order to accept the role as head coach for the rest of the season.
