Florida deja vu as state election hit by chaos, fraud accusations

As of Friday morning, Florida Republican Gov. Rick Scott held onto a lead of just over 15,000 votes in his bid to defeat Democratic Sen. The Nelson-Scott race, as of Friday afternoon, was within 0.18 percentage point, with Scott holding a 14,985 lead with 8.2 million votes counted.

County election canvassing boards, which determine whether the provisional ballots can be counted, have until noon Saturday to submit unofficial results to the state Division of Elections.

"As soon as Democrats sent their best Election stealing lawyer, Marc Elias, to Broward County they miraculously started finding Democrat votes".

"Well, it could be", Trump said when asked if the federal government could get involved, "because if you look at Broward, and Palm Beach to a lesser extent, if you look at Broward County, they have had a awful history".

A Florida judge on Friday ruled in favor of GOP Gov. Rick Scott and said that Broward Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes must "allow immediate" viewing and copying of records that Scott's team had requested.

"Election officials are literally just counting the ballots".

Scott, the sitting governor until early January, told reporters called to the state-owned governor's mansion in Tallahassee on Tuesday night: "I will not sit idly by while unethical liberals try to steal this election from the great people of Florida".

Scott's showing in the Keys contrasts with other Republicans running for statewide office in Monroe County, where, outside of heavily progressive Key West, tends to vote solid red. Trump tweets: "Law Enforcement is looking into another big corruption scandal having to do with Election Fraud in #Broward and Palm Beach. We don't let people seize ballots when they think they are losing".

The reason why he feels that way is obvious: we believe when every legal ballot is counted we'll win this election.

He isn't telling the truth, which is: votes are not being found; they're being counted.

"This information Supervisor of Elections should have already compiled and saved", one of his Scott's lawyers said to CBS Miami, "It should take 10 minutes to do".

Neither the Associated Press nor CNN have called the race.

Brenda Snipes' office in Broward has until 7 p.m. Friday evening to turn over those records.

In Georgia the Republican candidate for governor, Brian Kemp, has claimed victory over Democrat Stacey Abrams. Scott's thin lead over Nelson has narrowed in the vote-counting in the days since he declared victory on Tuesday night. He needs to finish above 50 percent to avoid a runoff election.

Trump also suggested fraud in Arizona, where Democrat Kyrsten Sinema jumped ahead of Republican Martha McSally late Thursday as additional votes were counted.

Florida's governor's race also looks headed to a mandatory recount, as the votes that have trickled in this week have also pushed the race between Republican Ron DeSantis and Democrat Andrew Gillum under the 0.5 percent threshold.

That meant there was no candidate opposite Bush, but to the right of Gore was the ultra-conservative Reform Party candidate Pat Buchanan, who got 3,407 votes in the county - many of them probably intended for Gore, analysts said. The additional votes for Nelson came from overseas and provisional ballots, Griffin said.
