'Don't steal - not in 2018 or ever' - Lorde erupts at Kanye West

Her posts may have shocked some fans as Lorde has heaped praise on Kanye in the past and she even worked with the controversial rapper on a remix of her song Yellow Flicker Beat back in 2014.

The thing that stirred up the most social media chatter, however, was the stage design.

On Monday on Instagram Story, the Green Light singer shared photos - one in March 2018, and another at Coachella 2017 - of her performing in a similar environment.

She added, "But don't steal-not from women or from anyone else-in 2018 or ever".

It's a bold statement, but in her defense, the similarities between the two set pieces are uncanny to the point where it's hard to imagine its a mere coincidence.

Kanye and Cudi's set was met with criticism from some, however. The longtime friends also received some backlash for their set design at the show.

It seems as though Kanye West was truly inspired by his partner-in-rhyme Kid Cudi after the two hit the stage to perform tracks from their Kids See Ghosts album at Camp Flog Gnaw over the weekend.

Lorde put dancers in her floating box, and even hopped in there herself during her 2017 worldwide "Melodrama" tour.

During Lorde's shows, she would have a dancer inside while she sang, but later got inside the box herself during the performance. The Guardian has reached out to Devlin for comment, and to representatives for West.
