Disney Announces Cassian Andor Star Wars Live-Action Series

In addition to revealing the title for the streaming service, Iger also revealed that LucasFilm is now developing a live-action Star Wars series focused onRogue One character Cassian Andor.

"Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me", said Luna.

For fans of Disney history, the service will also feature Ink & Paint, a docu-series centered on the women who "made numerous Disney animated classics possible with little or no recognition for their work" as members of the studio's Ink & Paint department. Disney expects to launch its new direct-to-consumer service late next year.

As we saw in Solo: A Star Wars Story, Disney seems hellbent on showing us the origins of familiar characters, so I'd also bet good money that Alan Tudyk will return at some point as K-2SO and we'll see how those two characters first met.

Disney and Marvel have now confirmed that Marvel Studios is developing a series based on fan-favorite character Loki.

Luna, who will next be seen in Netflix's Narcos: Mexico, has signed on to reprise the role of Andor. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think of the service. It will star Tom Hiddleston and be available on Disney+, the company's new streaming service.

Deborah Chow (Marvel's Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates) and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) are some of the directors now working on Disney+ projects. Given how Rogue One ends, this TV series clearly won't be a sequel unless it's a highly metaphysical and ponderous meditation on the afterlife.
