Blizzard is making a Diablo game for mobile because of one very obvious reason: mobile is the biggest gaming platform in the world, and especially with its appeal to the Chinese gaming market, it could be very lucrative no matter what business model it ends up using.
Other interesting information to crop up after BlizzCon include the fact that a teaser for Diablo 4 was reportedly considered, but ultimately pulled from the keynote. Now, Blizzard denies that any such reveal was planned.

Baptized Wacraft III: Reforged, this game will be a new version of the famous strategy game in real time.
Blizzard reportedly filmed a video in which co-founder Allen Adham confirmed the next big Diablo game, though whether or not it was meant to be shown at BlizzCon is unconfirmed. Forcing developers to rush the timeline of a game never helps anything, but those studios have proved even just an unfinished logo is enough.
I'm not a Diablo fan, I have played Diablo 3 to some extent and enjoyed what I played, with that being said I can understand the anger and black-lash. I also think Diablo: Immortal has the potential to actually be a pretty neat mobile game, if undoubtedly not a replacement for a proper sequel.
