Dez Bryant to work out for 7-1 New Orleans Saints

Dez Bryant will join fellow free-agent wide receivers Brandon Marshall and Kamar Aiken in working out for the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday, multiple media outlets reported. However, the Cowboys did trade for Oakland Raiders wide receiver during their bye week this season.

Tre'Quan Smith has 12 receptions for 214 yards and three touchdowns for the Saints, who saw fellow wideout Ted Ginn Jr. placed on injured reserve last month and Cameron Meredith struggle this season.

Bryant, of course, has been out of work since the Dallas Cowboys released him last April. He has visited several teams, including a workout with the Cleveland Browns in August.

"Bryant seemingly confirmed the news on Twitter, writing "#ThrowuptheX", his way of celebrating touchdowns, with a tweet of the news from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "No way you can cheat it".

Either way, the Saints (7-1) could certainly use more production from their receiver position behind Pro Bowler Michael Thomas and his 70 catches for 880 yards and five touchdowns.

The 30-year-old Bryant spent his first eight years in the National Football League with Dallas and last season caught 69 passes for 838 yards and six touchdowns, including a 50-yard scoring play, for the Cowboys.

During the offseason, Bryant rejected a contract offer from the Baltimore Ravens.

He meant to sign a one-year contract this season, then work on a longer-term deal starting next season, the reports said.
