Trump said last month he wanted Congress to cut taxes by about 10 percent for middle-income people after the midterm elections, though he has yet to offer specifics.

"If the Democrats think they are going to waste Taxpayer Money investigating us at the House level, then we will likewise be forced to consider investigating them for all of the leaks of Classified Information, and much else, at the Senate level".

"They can play that game, but we can play it better".

These Friends From Foreign Nations "were waiting me out, and hoping, on Trade Deals", Trump tweeted, adding "Now we can all get back to work and get things done!" "Those that did not, say goodbye!"

The mixed verdict in the first nationwide election of Trump's presidency showed the limits of his hard-line immigration rhetoric in today's political landscape, where college-educated voters in the suburbs rejected his warnings of a migrant "invasion".

"Yesterday was such a very Big Win, and all under the pressure of a Nasty and Hostile Media!" he added.

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, one of the Democrats who is considering the 2020 race, said that the two years since Trump ascended to the White House had ushered a new generation of women into public life.

Pelosi is nationally unpopular, and Republicans have often tied Democratic House candidates to her agenda to win races.

Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., speaks to supporters after she was declared the victor over former Gov. Phil Bredesen in their race for the U.S. Senate Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, in Franklin, Tenn.

Trump was due to hold a news conference at 11:30 a.m. (1630 GMT) in the White House.

Democrats picked up governorships in Kansas and at least three other U.S. states on Tuesday but failed to win high-profile races in Florida and OH, as voters cast ballots in three dozen gubernatorial contests across the country.

"Too bad, Mike", Trump said of Coffman, before turning on Utah's Mia Love, whose race remained too close to call. Tammy Baldwin held off a challenge from Republican Leah Vukmir, but her fellow Democrats Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota and Claire McCaskill of Missouri were defeated by their Republican opponents.

Trump is scheduled to "discuss our success in the Midterms!" at a White House news conference later Wednesday.

Yet it's that kind of middle-road tack that risks alienating Democrats who want nothing to do with Trump.

Only one of the polls factored into Real Clear Politics' average gave DeSantis an advantage: Republican polling firm Trafalgar Group polled 1,484 likely voters during the final two days before the election and found DeSantis with a 3-point lead.

Overall, more voters disapproved of Trump's job performance than approved - a finding that is largely consistent with recent polling. What Putin would not favor would be investigations or sanctions that would further damage the well-connected Russian oligarchs believed to have links to Trump, or to have helped fund USA meddling efforts.
